Hey all,

Well it's the end of '07 and it's been a long year...This will be the last post for this blog, I'm just too busy to post and it doesn't get viewed much anyway. So farewell...

Getting Settled

Well it has been a while since the last post...hopefully that doesn't become a habit. We are finally getting settled into the new place and beginning to take in some of the local attractions. Did I mention that I completed my B.S.B.A. degree, with honors? Rather anticlimactic since it was in conjunction with us moving and I didn't send out graduation invitations (I couldn't attend anyway) or announcements. Here's a pic of the house and the latest addition to the motor vehicle fleet (my grad present to myself).

Took another fishing charter with Live Bait Sportfishing...didn't do too bad and got to spend some time with good friends before we depart the island next month. Hopefully one more trip before we leave. Got some great action shots of DB haulin in a big Mahi Mahi.

Here is an interesting story discussing how the state of Hawaii pollutes our ocean. Interesting how the Federal Government allowed over 75 million gallons of sewage to be pumped into the ocean. The island will be swimming in sewage for months to come. I would look at going to South America or Mexico if I was a vacationer. I wonder if the state will be held accountable.

Wow! It's been over 2 months since the last update. Time fly's when you're having fun! Well, another semester is behind me and I'm on the home stretch. 3 more classes left, 1 that I plan to test out of, and I get my life back. Ever wonder why you pay over $100.00 for books and they only give you $25.00 when you sell them back? Some of my books I could have left in the wrapper and returned as new. I'm afraid to add up how much books cost for a year!

News on the assignment front: We have our orders and will be going to California, unless of course they (no one knows who they really are) decide to change them between now and then. This is as official as it can get though and it should be a done deal. Looking forward to moving away from Hawaii, and getting back in the United States for a while (I know, Hawaii is the 50th state, but their allegiance to the U.S. is debatable). No plans to do anything right yet, but we will take a nice vacation (vacation= no set schedule, no pressure) during our transition. House hunting has started (wow, houses are expensive) and we are trying to narrow down the cities we would like to purchase in. Anything will be better than cellblock C.

So there you go...an update. Haven't taken any pictures, it's been raining pretty much non-stop for 3 weeks so there isn't much to take pictures of. The city sewer has been overflowing into the ocean so that isn't even pretty to look at right now. Unless of course you are into floating snickers bars!

Had a great day yesterday with Shannon and Ali from Live Bait Sportfishing...you should have seen the ones that got away! I wish I could have too. Got hooked into what the guide thought was a big shark...watched a lot of line spool off the reel until it finally broke.

Well, I made it home again from another trip...this time it was to Guam and Japan, each place for a week. Good to meet up with old friends and put faces to the names that you see on e-mail daily. Home for a couple weeks and then off again the day after Thanksgiving. Here are a couple pictures from the latest trip.

A little down time

I'm kind of in between semesters at school (class started yesterday) and just returned from Japan so I figured I'd make a quick post. Not to mention my sister says if I don't post something she will remove my link! Aside from driving on the wrong side of the road I thought Japan was pretty cool. The blinker and wiper switches are also reversed so the wipers were going quite often when I was turning :). Not many pictures were taken because it was a very busy week, but here are a couple.

We went out today to one of my favorite stores to look at lathes and woodturning tools. Well, we found ourselves in downtown Honolulu. Since there was very little traffic, and even less tourists, we stopped at Queen ‘Iolani’s palace and checked out the statue of King Kamehameha I that is located across the street.

A trip around the Pacific, 8 Islands in 4 hours! Whew!

We went to the Polynesian Cultural Center yesterday...here are a couple pictures from the trip. I've always been intrigued by the pictures that showed the ring of fire from the dancers, well here you go. It wasn't difficult, just set my Cannon SD500 to night snapshot and clicked away. Next time I need to work on the focus but I did this all without the display on to keep from disturbing those around me. Hope you enjoy them...

Aloha! We just returned from a 4 day trip to the island of Maui. Here are a couple pictures from a snorkel trip we took. We visited the island of Molokini and went to an area that had a family of green sea turtles. The fish, turtles, and an eel were very cooperative and posed for dozens of pictures. I will post more pictures as the week progresses so check back soon...

A picture from a recent fishing trip to Alaska. Spent three days fishing with WildRose charters out of Homer Alaska. What a blast!!! This is a big Pacific Cod that was thrown back as we were searching for Halibut.
